Position: Intermediate Urban Architecture Designer

Duties: Assist design/managing principal with urban planning and design from concept, schematic to detailed design for large scale mixed-use commercial and residential projects in China; prepare site plans, specifications, and cost estimates for land development of commercial & residential buildings including surrounding lands for plaza, outdoor living spaces, roads, lobby, & resorts, etc.; collaborate with architects or related professionals on whole building design to maximize feature of structures, surrounding land use and to improve energy efficiency; compile and analyze data on conditions such as location, drainage, and location of structures for environmental reports and urban plans; under supervision of principal architect, act as a liaison with Chinese clients, Chinese officials and consultants; assist in the preparation of proposals for Chinese projects, and participate in interviews and public presentations as needed; prepare graphic representations or drawing of proposed plans or design utilizing hand-drawing/sketching, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & SketchUp. 

Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Urban or Environmental Design or Architecture + 5 years experience in job or as an urban or landscape architect involving China architectural design.  Experience must include China building codes and zoning compliance.  Must be proficient in hand-drawing/sketching, AutoCAD, Photoshop & SketchUP & able to travel to China as needed to collaborate with architects and related professionals on meeting clients’ requirements in China.
