Surfside City Center 2007
Surfside, Texas
This project for a new Tourist Center on the Texas coast near Galveston combines berths for large Casino boats docking in this convenient location south of Houston with 70,000 square feet of hotel space, 200,000 square feet of retail and entertainment, and 200,000 square feet of parking to accommodate the large quantities of tourists expected to seek activities in this waterside location. With easy access from the major arterial road leading to Houston’s downtown and surrounding suburbs and located just a few miles from Surfside Beach and 65 miles from Houston, this center is designed to host the large quantities of guests seeking to enjoy gambling and recreational experiences. The continuous structure is in the form of a modern “seawall” that creates an attractive border to what has been an industrial waterway. Its bending linear form allows continuous indoor access to the full length of its entertainment, shopping and support services contained in the complex.
