Project Description

Carnegie Hall Tower Office Suite
Manhattan, NY  |  2014

Today’s work patterns encourage more collaborative work practices. MDA’s design approach sought to introduce transparency and flexibility of use as a replacement for the highly-enclosed existing layout. The transparency afforded by floor to ceiling glazed partitions with sliding doors supports a corporate identity of collaboration. The new layout balances private offices with open workstations and activity spaces. It shifts the entry to deliver visitors to the active zone adjacent to the large conference space. Visitors are now welcomed in a new reception zone and open waiting area (created from a former private office) that are linked to the largest smart conference room by a telescoping glazed wall. The variety of work tasks are supported by a variety of collaborative environments with increasing levels of openness. The corporate identity of this land investment company is reflected in the rift cut walnut millwork and custom furnishings. The design changes successfully transform a compartmentalized office suite into a welcoming highly functional flowing series of spaces befitting of its corporate identity and operations.
